Position Title: Fractional or Part-Time Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location: Remote (Eastern Time Zone required)

Employment Type: Fractional / Part-Time (10–20 hours per week, flexible schedule)

Position Summary

The Fractional/Part-Time CFO will provide high-level financial leadership, strategic guidance, and fiscal oversight to the CEO and senior executive team. This role is ideal for a seasoned financial executive with multi-site healthcare or veterinary experience who thrives in dynamic, growth-oriented environments. The ideal candidate will help drive financial clarity, discipline, and long-term value creation while ensuring sound financial controls and reporting processes.

Strategic Financial Leadership

· Serve as a financial thought partner to the CEO, Board, and private equity stakeholders.

· Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across the organization.

· Analyze complex financial data to support key decisions on capital allocation, hospital performance, and corporate growth.

Reporting & Compliance

· Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

· Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

· Support accurate and timely Board reporting and investor communication.

Operational Finance & Profitability

· Collaborate with hospital and regional leaders to assess P&L drivers, COGS, labor utilization, and EBITDA margins.

· Evaluate service line profitability and advise on operational efficiencies and margin improvement.

· Guide pricing strategy, vendor contracts, and capital investments.

Team Oversight & Development

· Provide guidance and mentorship to the internal finance and accounting team.

· Evaluate existing finance structure and recommend optimizations or additional talent where needed.

· Act as liaison between internal finance team and external advisors (tax, audit, legal, M&A)

Growth & Transactions

· Help refine financial models related to expansion, debt structuring, and strategic initiatives.

· 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including prior CFO or senior financial leadership roles.

· Background in multi-location healthcare, veterinary, or private equity-backed businesses.

· Demonstrated success in building or refining finance functions in high-growth settings.

· Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred:

· CPA or MBA.

· Experience with Intacct/Sage, Paylocity, and enterprise budgeting tools.

· Familiarity with veterinary P&L dynamics (e.g., COGS, labor % targets, and specialty services margin).

Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time and/or contract position estimated at 10–20 hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, either on a flat monthly retainer or hourly basis.
