Reuters Video News is looking for a dynamic and talented VJ/Cameraperson (Level 1 Journalist - Temp) for a TEMPORARY position based in Los Angeles, California. About the Role As Cameraperson (Level 1 Journalist - Temp), you will: Produce, edit, write, and deliver compelling and creative video stories and live coverage on breaking news stories, sometimes in challenging weather conditions Cover varied news events in the U.S., including breaking news, entertainment, sports and feature stories with travel to the scene of events (largely Los Angeles and the surrounding areas) Film events and feature stories using broadcast-quality video camera, DSLR, GoPro, and other camera equipment. Work autonomously when filming, while collaborating with multimedia and video packaging teams to produce comprehensive reporting Work autonomously when filming, while collaborating with colleagues within Reuters Text to cover stories such as climate change, technology, entertainment and sports. Work some weekend shifts and at times, longer hours. About You You're a fit for the role of Cameraperson (Level 1 Journalist - Temp) if you have: Demonstrable experience in TV/digital newsgathering and production, with a track record of working with desk and field producers and the ability to operate independently Any familiarity with additional equipment, such as drone, gimbal and GoPro, will be considered an advantage. Experience video editing (we use Premiere) Experience in delivering live video feeds from the field Experience shooting/filing still photographs of news events (will be considered an advantage) Experience conceiving of and executing feature stories Be willing to work long hours, weekend shifts, and travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice, under tight deadlines and in all weather conditions. Employ a strong sense of teamwork An understanding of Reuters’ broadcast and digital clients, both domestically and internationally.
