About the position

Responsibilities

  • Understand, configure, and manage database administration tools.
  • Research technology solutions and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts during major incidents.
  • Provide database support for business applications and schedule backup jobs.
  • Manage access control including password resets and account management.
  • Check IP compliance and review violation reports.
  • Perform data life cycling and data replication activities.
  • Research connectivity issues and recurring errors in application databases.
  • Respond to database alerts and take appropriate actions.
  • Provide escalation for Level 1 and 2 Technical 24x7 support.
  • Create and manage databases, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Perform application database maintenance and provide technical assistance to users.
  • Facilitate database object changes as part of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Ensure metrics and alerts are in place for monitoring requirements.
  • Perform application database and OS scripting.
  • Review Information Protection compliance reports and notifications.
  • Perform database recovery from logs and backups, including Disaster Recovery.
  • Monitor and report on database instance and server activities.
  • Recommend effective resource utilization and emergency recovery procedures.
  • Conduct Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery activities during events.
  • Plan and facilitate operating system software updates and patches.
  • Implement database security and auditing features.
  • Conduct team training and manage resources.
  • Research new technologies for operations reliability and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems Technologies, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in database administration or related fields.
  • Experience with RedHat Linux versions 5, 6, and 7 on x86-64 platform.
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate versions 12 or 19.
  • Familiarity with major vendor backup and recovery tools including Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, or Actifio AGM.
  • Experience with Oracle Clusterware/Grid Infrastructure, VCS Clustering, or IBM DB2 HADR.
  • Proficiency in Korn, Bash Shell Scripting, or Windows PowerShell.
  • Experience with monitoring tools including Oracle Enterprise Manager.
