Koniag Management Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an Atlassian SME to support KMS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This is a remote opportunity.

Koniag Management Solutions is seeking an experienced Atlassian Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical expertise and leadership for our Atlassian suite of tools including Jira, Confluence, and other related products. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Atlassian products, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to support our organization's collaboration, project management, and development processes.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Atlassian SME will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and strategic implementation of Atlassian tools across the organization. This role will serve as the primary technical resource for all Atlassian-related matters, providing guidance to teams, developing best practices, and ensuring optimal utilization of these tools. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Configure, maintain, and administer Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, etc.) according to organizational requirements
  • Design and implement workflows, custom fields, screens, and process automations to optimize team efficiency and collaboration
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Atlassian applications, resolving complex issues and identifying root causes
  • Develop and document best practices, standard operating procedures, and usage guidelines for Atlassian tools
  • Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other enterprise systems
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement Atlassian marketplace apps to extend functionality
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve stability and performance
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for users of varying technical abilities
  • Collaborate with project managers, development teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and implement appropriate solutions
  • Stay current on new features, updates, and best practices related to Atlassian products
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security configurations
  • Create and maintain documentation in Confluence for processes, configurations, and system architectures
  • Support agile development practices by configuring appropriate board views, reports, and dashboards
  • Provide strategic input on the Atlassian roadmap for the organization
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Atlassian products, including at least 3 years in an administrative capacity
  • Atlassian certifications (ACP-100, ACP-200, or similar) preferred
  • Experience with Jira Server, Data Center, and/or Cloud environments
  • Demonstrated experience configuring complex Jira workflows and Confluence spaces
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Expert knowledge of Jira administration, including workflows, schemes, custom fields, and automations
  • Strong understanding of Confluence administration, templates, and macros
  • Knowledge of Atlassian APIs and integration capabilities
  • Familiarity with SQL for database queries and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and how to implement them in Jira
  • Experience with Atlassian marketplace apps and their configurations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with server and cloud migration strategies
  • Knowledge of user management, including SSO, LDAP, and Active Directory integration
  • Understanding of security best practices for Atlassian products
Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience with additional Atlassian products such as Jira Service Management
  • Experience with Atlassian Data Center deployments
  • Experience with enterprise-level Atlassian migrations
  • Scripting skills for custom automations using ScriptRunner or similar tools
  • Experience with REST API integration between Atlassian and third-party systems
  • Experience with performance tuning and scaling Atlassian applications
  • Knowledge of project and portfolio management using Jira Align or Advanced Roadmaps
  • Experience mentoring and training others on Atlassian best practices
