Older Adult Centers promote an active life for seniors. The centers aim to assist them to preserve their independence and health by offering various range of activities and services such as serving breakfast, lunch, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, class exercises, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, workshops, organized outings, and special events.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The Driver will be required to transport older adult clients on regularly scheduled routes to various destinations. Escort and assist infirm clients from their homes to the vehicle and back. Perform clerical functions including data entry, filing, answering phones and distributing mail.
• Transport clients on regularly scheduled routes from their homes to destinations such as senior centers, supermarkets, shopping malls, medical appointments as determined by the Director or other assigned staff.
• Escort and assist the fragile clients from their homes to the vehicle and back, if necessary.
• Ensure the safety of the passengers through the use of seat belts, wheelchair brackets and other safety devices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class D) and provision of printout of annual Driving Record from Motor Vehicle Bureau.
• Must obtain defensive driving certificate within 6 months of employment.
• One (1) year driving experience with no more than one moving violation within a 24-month period, no driving while intoxicated convictions.
• Knowledge of roadways in the area where program operates.
• Ability to lift to 25lbs.
