Position Summary:

The Claims Advocate acts as a liaison between all parties (clients, producers, carriers, claimants, and third-party vendors) involved in the claims process to educate, protect and resolve claims in the best interest of our clients. The Claims Advocate serves as a resource on claims workflows, procedures and best practice and works closely with management to provide the highest level of quality control, efficiency, and claims and client service to positively impact company growth, profitability, and industry reputation.

Essential Functions:
  • Working with management to improve and develop claims processes and workflows to ensure proper handling and oversight of all claims.
  • Providing claims advocacy and consultative services on accounts with complex, large losses.
  • Coordinating and communicating with client, agency team members (sales/service teams), and carriers to identify claims needs, improve claims experience, and ensure client expectations are met.
  • Attending prospect and existing client meetings to communicate the value of agency's claims services
  • Working with carriers to reduce agency reserves and control loss ratios to maximize profitability
  • Participate with management and other employees on special projects and other duties as required.
  • Manage assigned caseload and monitor all activity on open claims including, but not limited to, the establishment of fixed diary dates, reserve reviews, claims adjudication, litigation management, and claim resolution as set forth in departments Claims Procedure Manual
  • Engage in ongoing discussions with carriers with desired outcome of closure, adjustment in reserves or negotiation for a more favorable claims settlement and outcome for our clients
  • Provide consistent and frequent status updates to the client, producer, account manager throughout the life of the claim
  • Serve as a liaison between the carrier and client to ensure that all parties are working together efficiently toward a resolution.
  • Facilitate communication between carriers claims adjustor and the client and escalate the matter to carriers supervisor if necessary.
  • Perform claims review and compile monthly/quarterly status reports, or summary details on VIP accounts
  • Serve as matter expert on P&C claims matters
  • Ability to travel as needed for client and prospect presentations and/or carrier claim reviews
  • Assist Claim Associates and/or Claim Assistants with questions or request for guidance they may have pertaining to their claims
  • Assist in managing Liberty Claims Task inbox when needed
  • Work on special projects and perform miscellaneous duties as required of position

  • Utilization of Agency Management System and other claims software tools to properly document and assist clients


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, insurance industry professional designations, preferred.
  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance license
  • Three to five years of claims experience in an insurance company, TPA, in-house claims department, brokerage environment, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years' experience as a claims adjuster or advocate specifically with general liability and/or auto, cyber, property claims.
